K-12 Social Studies and Civics: Educating Tomorrow’s Citizens is a free professional learning community that provides K-12 educators with a place to collaborate on helping their students become informed and active citizens in a democracy. Join us to learn about new strategies and resources to enhance your social studies lessons. We will explore fresh ideas for educating and inspiring the next generation of citizens in areas such as:

  • Historical inquiry and understanding the past
  • Awareness of today’s social, economic and civic issues
  • Using primary sources to bring history to life
  • Creating connections with family and community stories
  • Incorporating culture and diversity into lessons
  • Researching and analyzing content, including fake news
  • The study of global connections and interdependence
  • Using political science, geography, psychology, sociology, and anthropology to understand the past, present, and future
  • Print and online social studies resources and tools for learning inside and outside the classroom
