The Big Deal Book of Technology-Building Online Community
A Community for Educators to Learn About and Discuss Resources
The Big Deal Book of Technology (BDBT) has created a community on the edWeb to help educators meet new colleagues and to share information on outstanding resources.
BDBT focuses on identifying invaluable resources for educators, while serving very specific audiences including K-12 technology professionals and educators of English language learners. They also provide information on grants and other attainable funding, rich resources for 21st century skills, professional development opportunities, free and inexpensive finds including standards-based lessons, inexpensive materials, and help with research and assessment.
BDBT has been a publisher of print and online resources for educators for many years. The edWeb provides a way for the publishers of BDBT to reach out to educators directly and get more recommendations and input directly from teachers, technology coordinators and directors and media librarians about the resources they find most valuable. Providing a forum for educators to share information and resources amongst themselves is one of the great advantages of edWeb's technology.
Marilyn Schutz, the publisher of The Big Deal Book of Technology, uses the blog to highlight new resources and grant deadlines, and to solicit feedback from community members. "We've launched this online community so we can use the latest technology to recommend new resources and to get educator recommendations and feedback. I couldn't be more thrilled."
